Protective Measures

Direct exposure to 172nm/222nm UV light can cause corneal burns (even for short periods). During operation, wear specialized UV-blocking goggles (transmittance <0.1% @ 172nm) and UV-blocking gloves. If ozone is generated (e.g., when irradiating air with 172nm light), an ozone decomposition device (such as a catalyst filter) or a forced ventilation system must be installed within the enclosed space.

Pretreatment and Startup

Keep the lamp surface clean (to avoid dust/oil that reduces transmittance). Before startup, confirm that the power supply voltage matches the lamp parameters (e.g., the high-voltage power supply must provide a stable pulse voltage, typically several thousand to tens of thousands of volts). For cold starts, a 1-2 minute preheating period is recommended, and the load should be applied only after the gas discharge stabilizes.

Energy Monitoring
