Handheld UV curing lamps are widely used in glue curing, 3D printing post-processing, and electronic component packaging. Their efficiency and convenience make them essential tools in many industries. However, improper use can not only affect the curing effect but also cause harm to the operator. Mastering proper usage techniques is crucial.

 

1. Selecting the Appropriate UV Wavelength

Different materials have different sensitivities to UV light. Common curing lamp wavelengths include 365nm, 385nm, and 405nm. Before use, confirm the recommended wavelength for the material to be cured to ensure optimal curing results. For example, most UV adhesives are suitable for 365nm UV light, while some specialized materials may require a longer wavelength.

 

2. Controlling Irradiation Distance and Duration

The distance between the curing lamp and the surface to be cured directly affects the UV intensity. A distance of 5-15 cm is generally recommended. Too close may cause localized overheating, while too far may result in incomplete curing. The irradiation time should be adjusted according to the material specifications and is generally 10-60 seconds. For thicker adhesive layers or complex structures, the irradiation time can be extended or cured in multiple sessions.

 

3. Ensure Uniform Irradiation

When using a handheld curing lamp, move the lamp head slowly to ensure that the UV light evenly covers the entire curing area to avoid incomplete curing in some areas due to uneven illumination. For curing large areas, a crisscross or spiral motion can be used to improve curing consistency.

 

4. Safety Precautions

Ultraviolet light is harmful to human skin and eyes. Wear protective goggles when operating the lamp and avoid direct exposure to UV light. When using the lamp for extended periods, wear long sleeves to minimize skin contact. Additionally, some UV adhesives may release an odor during the curing process; therefore, operate in a well-ventilated environment.

 

5. Regular Equipment Maintenance

Clean the lamp surface regularly to prevent dust or dirt that may affect UV output intensity. Check the power cord and connector to ensure they are intact to prevent equipment malfunction due to poor contact.

 

Mastering these tips will not only improve curing efficiency, but also extend the life of the equipment and ensure safe operation. Proper use of a handheld UV curing lamp will ensure more reliable results.
